Homosexuality in modern society can provoke strong reaction from many people. Part of what we believe about homosexuals comes from society, other parts from our family upbringing; for many of us, religion is the strongest influence. Religion, especially fundamental and orthodox religions, can be very harsh in their viewpoints on homosexuality. They will claim it is unnatural or against the norms of society, others will claim it is an abomination to God.
The problem with all of this, is that we grow up thinking that what we are taught today is the way it has always been. But when you begin to study history, you begin to understand that cultures throughout history have not always thought and lived the way we do today. This is especially true with society’s viewpoint on homosexuality. A good example of this different view point is that of ancient Greece.
Of all ancient societies, it is the Greeks that have the most artifacts left for us to examine. Much of their culture can be seen today as it was more than two thousand years ago. The viewpoint of homosexuality by the ancient Greeks is not completely clear as it applies to older adult males. It is mentioned in Greek literature and there doesn’t seem to be negative connotations associated with it.
If you're gay, you really should consider coming out. First of all, you should never deny who you are as a person - be yourself. No one should hide who he or she is. You need to be true to yourself, and not live in hiding. Once you come out, you will be more able to live your life to the fullest. If people around you have trouble with who you are, then that is their problem.
Every gay person is unique and has their own individual situation. You may not feel comfortable admitting your gay if your parents would disapprove. Another reason people don't want to come out and advertise their homosexuality is their peers. If you're young and still in junior high or high school, it may be easier on you to keep your sexual preference to yourself.
That is not always possible, but if it's an option you may want to consider as kids in school can be pretty cruel. Once you're older and out of school, believe me it becomes much easier. This is especially true if you live in a small town where there are few homosexuals.
I do not understand the big words so I wish you all a simple but sincere Happy New Year!
God give us all health and a few shreds of happiness from time to time. Nothing more.
Below, a dedication for you:
Web directories have become extremely popular throughout the years. These types of sites offer individuals an easy and sufficient way to find a particular type of business. Almost all directories have categories to choose from to help visitors get exactly what they want, and fast. For even quicker results, there are sites called niche directories, where the directory is based on a specific area of interest. In your search, you will only find business's that are linked to that specific interest and not hundreds of business's offering off topic services. By using a niche, you will not only quicken your search, but decrease stress and irritability from prolonged searches.

With the thousands of directories floating around on the web, there is one specific type that remains extremely beneficial. A gay niche directory. Having a gay directory gives gay individuals an easy way to find support groups, entertainment, classes and new friends. Without this type of directory, gay's would be searching through larger directories for hours on end, looking through every business until they found the right one. With a gay directory, they are able to simply click on a category of their choice and only be provided with business's that offer gay services. The simplicity of searching through this type of website is relieving and refreshing.
Freedom of belief is undeniably a fundamental principle of any democracy, one that nobody can censor through any means. To deny it is to deny the existence of the most basic characteristic of humans: thought. As such, one is not only free, but uncontrollably bound to believe and think unrestrained by any possible law, no matter how well versed.
I have went to a couple of gay bars and enjoyed going. I first started going to gay gay bar when I was just in college. It all started when myself and a couple of co workers got together and decided to visit a gay bar. The parking lot was crowded with cars, and there were people standing outside talking and having a great time. Upon entering the gay bar we were all asked of our ids paid the price and walked inside. The music was blaring and the dance floor was crowded.
On this particular night that I went they were having a Queen and King show. I had never been to a show like this before. My friends and I sat near the dance floor. The lights were dimmed and each performer came out one by one. The show was great and everyone was very friendly. I enjoyed that everyone was willing to greet and meet each other in a friendly safe atmosphere.
Lately, all eyes have been on Lowe's and the extremist-Christian group who is targeting sponsors who advertise during "American Muslim." With all of the persecution and profiling that Muslims have to face from outsiders, it is devastating to think of all the extreme persecution that they sometimes face within their own culture. This is especially true for gay Muslims.
Being openly homosexual in a Muslim world is extremely difficult to say the least. I can't imagine how it must feel to live in fear, knowing that you can legally be killed for daring to be who you were born to be. These are the circumstances and fears that some gay Muslims live with everyday.

Muslim
Homosexuality is currently punishable by the death penalty in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Mauritania, northern Nigeria, Sudan, and Yemen. What makes those governments feel like they have the right to choose who gets to live and die? Hate, ugliness, fear and bitterness are what motivates them. The most preposterous part is that many of the men who despise homosexuals so much are "guilty."
I do not really understand why many artists throughout history have been homosexual. More and more, however, this seems to be true. If we accept the idea that homosexuality is genetic, and I do, then maybe there is also some kind of genetic correlation between homosexuality and a predilection towards the arts. Whatever the reason, our world is a much better place for the work that many of these homosexual artists have produced.

Gay Arts
Of course, homosexuality is not a recent development in the history of mankind. Sappho of Lesbos, who lived in Ancient Greece more than 2500 years ago, is greatly revered for her lyric poetry. Although most of it has been lost, her reputation as an outstanding artist has survived. The word “lesbian” is derived from her name, although it did not come into popular use until the nineteenth century.
It always amazes me when I hear self-righteous people preach that being gay is a "choice". Let's see...who would "choose" a lifestyle that faces extreme prejudice even in free America? Young people are bullied and beaten up every day in schools across our nation just because they are attracted to the same gender. Most main stream religions condemn them to a burning damnation. There are whole organizations within the fundamentalist Christian world whose mission it is to rob homosexual people of what little rights they have. This includes the basic right to marry the consenting adult with whom they fall in love. Who would “choose” to live under such hard condemnation?

Gay USA
America has come a long way in how it has historically treated gay people. According to studies, at least ten percent of any given population is homosexually oriented. Some reports say that the number is probably higher than that. Yet, there are still antiquated sodomy laws that still stand in some states. In the beginning of our nation’s history, being homosexual was a capital crime. In the later “enlightened” decades, it was seen as a grave mental illness that could cause someone to be locked away and tortured in an insane asylum. So, are we to believe that a person would choose this life under such a threat to one’s life and happiness?
Growing up, I always spent more time with my brother than I did with my sisters. We would play with hot wheels, throw toy airplanes, and spent a great deal of time playing with his model train set. Back then, I didn't understand those so called gender binaries. I did not know what gay meant, and I did not know that most girls liked boys. There were no labels, and although I did not quite understand why everyone bought me a Barbie for Christmas when I had asked for a toy truck, I was happy just being me.

It was not until my first year of middle school that I began to experience what I later learned was homophobia. Until then, I had been content in calling myself a tomboy and most people had agreed. The way I dressed, however, quickly made me the target of pre-teens and young teenagers that had only recently heard the word "gay" themselves. The teasing quickly became constant and progressed as I moved up in grades. By the time I was in eighth grade, I was known as "the lesbian". I hadn't actually ever been with a girl, or even kissed a girl, but everyone felt certain that I had. I knew I was attracted to some girls, but I felt it didn't matter since I had never actually even held another girls hand. The teasing didn't phase me as much as the other girls hoped it had, and I suppose that inadvertently led to more taunting.
