Canadian Military Service Makes Important Changes For Transgender Soldiers
I just came across an article saying that due to the latest changes in the military service regarding transgender soldiers, transgender people that enroll in the military are allowed not only to serve openly, but also to wear clothes according to the gender they identify themselves with. It`s definitely a step forward towards acceptance.
I`m glad to see that Canada has changed its policy concerning trans soldiers, keeping in mind that other countries such as the U.S. still have to decide whether they will or will not allow gay and lesbian soldiers to serve their country openly, because for the moment, soldiers who enroll in the U.S. army are not allowed to do so due to the well-known, discriminatory DADT policy (Don`t Ask, Don`t Tell).
PFLAG (Parents, Family & Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is very supportive to Canada`s decision regarding the transgender policy. And they have all the right to do so, keeping in mind that we`re living in a free world where everybody must (or should, better said) have the right to dress, act, serve and love according to their gender and sexual orientation.
Hopefully, other countries will take Canada as a model and change their policy regarding LGBT people, who are willing to openly serve their countries. There are lots of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people who want to enroll in the army. More than you might think of.

Canada is so far ahead of the "good ol' USA" in terms of True Equality that it makes us look like pathetic hypocritical BIGOTS! Because the inalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness only apply to the rich and powerful. The Declaration of Independence is feared - and the Constitution is deftly flayed into pieces a lot of us can't even appropriate, due to the evil actions of self-serving politicians, price-gouging corporations and holier-than-thou theocrats.
Shame on the USA for letting her northern sister-nation to soundly upstage her when it comes to Progressive Equality measures! If it's raining in New York City, it's only because Lady Liberty out there in the Harbor is weeping!
