Barack Obama Gives Gay Partners Extra Rights Concerning Health Care

October 9, 2010 |  by  |  Share

We all know that Barack Obama is pro-LGBT, and he took care to show us one more time when he named June the LGBT month. In addition to this, besides the fact that Barack Obama is helping the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens of USA, he did not forget about the health care issues LGBT people often confront with.

When somebody had a car crash, let`s say, the only ones who were allowed to see the patient in hospital were close relatives and the husband/wife. No access was guaranteed for gay and lesbian partners of a person that suffered injuries and was in hospital. Otherwise stated, due to the new Obama Health Care law, every patient may now designate those who can visit him while in hospital and those who can`t.

I believe that this new health care bill is nothing but a step forward for the members of the LGBT community, and I am really glad and proud that Obama proposed this health care bill. You never know when something bad may happen to you or your partner, and it would be horrible not to be able to visit him in the hospital. Thanks to this new health care bill, we can finally say that there is equality between patience and discrimination based on sexual orientation is gradually vanishing.

However, unfortunately although most of the hospitals follow this new health care bill, not all of them are obliged not to deny visitation. Yet!

Everybody may now visit the loved ones. Hopefully, this won`t be Obama`s last step when it comes to keeping his promises about the expansion of human rights of LGBT members.
