Thousands of people attended the Gay Pride in India on Sunday
This Sunday was held the Gay Pride in India`s Capital City, New Delhi. This Gay Pride is the first one to take place after India legalised homosexuality last year.
Gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders but also their allies marched on the streets of New Delhi, while the passers by were watching them. However, this is not the first Gay Pride to take place in India, there were two more in the past who were considered protests, but this was definitely the most significant one.
Just as it happens in any other country, in India the LGBT people confront with discrimination issues as well, and Gay Prides such as the one held this Sunday aim to decrease the discrimination rate.
However, although in 2009 homosexuality wasn`t considered against the law anymore, people still have problems with accepting the LGBT community. If we think well, same happens in countries such Romania. In Romania, homosexuality is not a crime anymore since 2001 when Article 200 was repealed, but even now, 9 years later, people are still narrow minded and discrimination and abuse towards the LGBT individuals are still common.
Personally, I`m really glad whenever I see a country who has repealed the discriminatory laws against the LGBT community, and this is a big step for the Indian LGBT community as well. Although slowly, things are getting to change, and change is good. This gay pride is indeed a step forward, but honestly, I think it will pass some time until India will have a developed gay life with openly LGBT people, probably when people will be a little bit unprejudiced.
Watch as people are celebrating this year`s Gay Pride in New Delhi, India.
I`m even thinking about visiting India in the near future, actually!

THIS IS AWSOME.....
Hey,
OK it's 2:19 am I've been browsing through your blogs reading everything i thought to be interesting..and I will have to ask you what in the name of Mike do you have with Romanian? BTW i am Romanian and a transgender, as thus explaining my irritation a bit, OK so we're not a perfect country, go figure?us and another dozen ex communist countries, we're not the only ones with poor to none LGBT laws/rights etc people here have a really bad way of viewing things all thanks to that awesome communist upbringing my grandparents and parents received that the new generation is really confused and uninformed not to mention really overdosed with the negative impact of western cultures,i'm no patriot but its a bit too much this country is dysfunctional since after being freed from communists in 89 the so called democracy isn't any better either most of the people my age are leaving it so not many people are left here to make a change, the elders side with the ex commies who somehow are democrats now(i blame the elders who voted them, but now their suffering too so can't really act childishly mean towards them) Bottom line it's a ex commie country filled with middle aged old people and confused teenagers who don't know what world their living in, can't really make any changes with such people; but do look at the other Eastern Europe Countries most of them are in the same pot as Romania or worse, i'm just saying don't pick on the little undeveloped country that i happen to call home for now
P.S. yes its a bit of a rant on my side so sorry if you've read it, but hey i like this place a lil bit even if it sucks like hell.
