What do you think about abandoned children?
Abandoned children.
It`s tough to see abandoned children in foster houses. I personally am extremely angry when I see or hear any news about parents abandoning their kids or even killing them, just to get rid of another responsability. What is the purpose of giving birth just to take it away ?! You know, when I look at the abandoned children I sometimes think that animals are more... human than we are.
The tough part is that parents don`t even want to see their abandoned children ever again. How can somebody do that and get away with it? How can`t they feel any remorse? I find it quite unhuman. Moreover, the rate of abandoned children is continuously growing, although the abandonment of a child is considere a very serious crime and punished accordingly.
Why are there so many abandoned children? What are the causes that lead to this? I think that some of the most known reasons for which mothers choose to give away their kids is poverty and lack of social welfare (not being able to raise them) along with the fact that some mothers that suffer from post partum depression think that they are not capable of having a child.
It is quite hard to adopt the abandoned children, especially when it comes to international adoptions. Due to bureaucracy, for instance a couple that can`t have kids and wish to adopt abandoned children have to wait sometimes for more than three months before that happens. These things vary from country to country, for instance there have been recorded lower rates of abandonment in countries with liberal adoption and strong social structures.
When parents abandon their children, they often forget the fact that they can ruin a life because those particular abandoned children may become murderers, thieves or persons that the society directly reject. It`s quite hard to grow in a foster house, without mom and dad, where the only role models are bigger boys that often rape and beat the small ones just to have the supremacy.
In addition to that, abandoned children often happen to adopt a very low self-esteem along with the difficulty of expressing their feelings, things which have an effect when those abandoned children decide to integrate in the society. As said before, they are often rejected when they try to do that.
To sum up, in my opinion no kid deserves to be abandoned. They have a life, and I don`t know why parents decide to get rid of them, forgetting that the abandoned children will hate them when they grow up. It is not normal, keeping in mind that even animals struggle to take care of their offsprings.
