Who is April Ashley? April Ashley is a 75 years old transgender woman, most known for being a former English model and her appearances in some of the most known magazines of that time, as well as her relationships with influential and rich men. Besides the fact that April Ashley liked to strike the pose in front of the photographers and did this better than many women, she was also an actress.
April Ashley`s early life was quite hard. Nobody understood her and she could not express herself the way she would like to, due to the fact that back then people weren`t allowed to do so especially the transgenders. She was obliged to suffer electric shock treatment and she was raped by one of her roomates, thing which marked her profoundly and seriously injured her body. I do admire April Ashley because she managed to get over the harsh moments of her childhood and teenage period and she succeeded in life.

Some of the typical reactions of a parent, regardless if we are talking about mothers or fathers (although fathers are more prone to react badly in situations like this), would be the bad language used towards "the victim", threatening or even kicking the individual out of the house and ban him or her from ever coming back. Although these things are mostly said when angry, parents regret them after a while even if we are talking about years. This is why somebody has to be careful when choosing the best moments for coming out.
