Gay Romania: Thoughts of a lesbian couple

Gay Romania: Thoughts of a lesbian couple

Last year my partner and I took a two month, semi-working vacation throughout several different European countries. As a couple we are openly gay but due to current social conditions in the United States we are used to having to occasionally hide our sexuality while we're out in public. As women we are generally able to pull this off better than some of our gay male friends, but it still causes issues at times, particularly in cases where we decide that we're tired of censoring ourselves to please others.

Before leaving for Europe we did a lot of research on what level of acceptance, or lack thereof, we could expect in the different nations and cities that were on our itinerary. We were both committed to visiting Romania regardless of the social stigma against homosexuality, due to the working aspect of the trip. I'm a photographer and Romania presents some amazing photographic opportunities, not the least of which are the more legendary locations that horror lovers and the gothic crowd are drawn to. Hundreds of thousands of people in the United States are fascinated by such topics so the opportunity to attempt to capture unique images of iconic castles and the like was too much to pass up.

The Importance of Gay Blogs

October 2, 2010 |  by  |  Share

Believe it or not, gay blogs are very important for the LGBT community, and they have brought their contribution in more ways than one could ever think. What is a gay blog? A gay blog is similar to any other personal blog, but in this case the author is gay or bisexual and he usually focuses on issues concerning the LGBT and Gay community. A gay blog can have one author or it can have more authors: gay, bisexual or transgender authors, who get the chance of expressing their points of view and personal opinions regarding particular issues that the LGBT community is confronting with.

Why is a gay blog important?

First of all, a popular and visible gay blog is a very good online meeting place, where gays, bisexuals and transgenders can virtually meet and chat. Yes, that`s right, here hundreds or even thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people can gather and comment on articles on various topics. By commenting, they each share their opinion and points of view regarding a particular matter, so that the owner of the gay blog and also the visitors can see how other LGBT people think or react when different topics are brought into discussion.

As it says on the homepage of the blog, EnDarkQ was born in April this year and its sole purpose is to bring contribution to the LGBT community all around the world with interesting and catchy articles, presenting relevant information and tips that hopefully the readers will find useful for the everyday life. A gay blog generally speaking talks about issues concerning the community, news (what star/celebrity came out of the closet, what gay blog is on top of the list, etc), gay prides/marches but also more common topics such as beauty tips or entertainment.

Having a gay blog or a lgbt blog (lgbt blogs usually deal with more common topics, regarding all the members of the community while the other blogs talk about gay stuff) is a responsability, you have to upload fresh articles and keep your readers updated, but there are very good parts, too!. For instance, when you`re good at writing articles and you touch topics that people are interested in, more an more visitors will come and comments will just pour. It is a very nice feeling to see that your work is appreciated and people love what you`re doing, every time your readers tell you these things they just make your day.
