Okay, there are a few movies that every LGBT person has to see at least once. Why? They`re really interesting and you have something to learn from them, and I`m more than sure that you`ll see your own story in one of them, or at least identify yourself with the main character. Some of these LGBT movies are funny, some of them are really realistic and sad in the same time. However, I tried to make a selection of 10 of the best gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender themed movies ( LGBT movies) and I also added a little description about each and every one of them. Enjoy!
1. A girl like me - The Gwen Araujo Story. By far, this is one of my favourite LGBT movies. Produced in 2006, The Gwen Araujo Story is a drama based on true facts presenting the life and death of Gwen Araujo, a transgender teenager who was brutally murdered at the age of 17 in October 2002. It`s for everybody, not only for transgenders and it`s definitely worth watching, don`t miss it! P.S.: Make sure you have tissues next to you, because this movie is dazzling.
Isn`t that what everybody, straight or gay, is looking for? I mean, we all want to wake up next to our Prince Charming (or next to our Rapunzel in other cases) and hear those wonderful three words that can brighten up anybody`s day: "good morning, love". However, we have different tastes and different perceptions on how our Prince Charming would look like: is he tall? Dark haired or blonde? Slim or muscled?
As you already know, it`s pretty hard for gay and lesbians to find their Prince Charming/Rapunzel, because first of all, not everybody is willing to have a relationship and become committed - some people simply want to be single for their entire lives, living their lives just the way they want to, and they`re not used to being monogamous - , and second of all keep in mind that if you love somebody, he might not love you back or vice versa. This is why it`s so damn hard to be happy next to somebody.
You know, us, LGBT persons, have this wonderful ability to somehow detect other people like us, even if they`re in the closet or act perfectly straight. The gaydar is simply something you can`t explain, but you know it`s there and it`s working its magic.
I` ve heard so many people talking about their experiences when they simply "smelled" other gay men, only by looking at them. However, it`s somehow incorrect to call it a "gaydar", because as far as I`m concerned, girls have a gaydar, too, and it works the same just that it`s for detecting girls.
Sometimes, it may happen that the gaydar doesn`t work properly. For instance, if you see a guy staying with a gay guy who`s out of the closet, you`re tempted to think that he`s gay too. This is actually one of those wrong perceptions that not only confuses you and may attract problems for the future (provided that you ask the guy out for a date simply because you saw him with the other openly gay guy), but also because things like this are the ones who keep good, open minded straight people away from LGBT persons, because no straight man wants to be seen as gay.
We all have fetishes, some of them can be common ones (such as the fetish for skaters or underwear) while others are rare, such as wool fetish or diaper fetish. However, we`re not here to judge anybody, the sole purpose of this article is to present five of the weirdest and rarest fetishes that people have. Remember, never say about one`s fetish that it`s "sick" or "twisted", because somebody else can say the same thing about yours. Tastes vary, and so do opinions. However, some of the following are really... special. Check them out and share your thoughts!
5. Mucophilia, or the mucus & sneeze fetish.
Just as the name says, mucophilia people get aroused by... mucus especially, but basically any of the body fluids can turn on a.. mucophiliac. It may seem gross at first, but actually many people have this fetish and maybe they don`t even know it, keeping in mind how many persons are turned on by semen for example, so they`re seen as mucophilians (is it how it`s spelled actually?).
Some people like to be submissive, this is one of their fetishes, while others love to take control, to play "the master". All this submissive-dominant thing is mainly BDSM related, but sometimes even regular couples can play these roles. For instance, I like my boyfriend to be dominant in bed, to be a true lion. I don`t like any whips involved, though, lol.
So, as I said, many gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people like to play these roles, the role of the submissive one (also known as the "slave" or the one who`s often being humiliated) and the role of the dominant partner who expresses his power, usually the male (master). I say that it`s usually the males who like to be dominant because this is a way for them to express their alpha male... instincts, hehe.
As known, the best moment to begin hormone replacement therapy (aka the first step towards the male-to-female transition) is at the beginning of the puberty (around the age of 12-13). Beginning with that age, the body starts to produce testosterone, testosterone being the male hormone responsible for the secondary male gender characteristics (wide shoulders, large hands, male voice and so on and so forth).
What the hormone replacement therapy does is to prevent the body of a biological male from producing testosterone, and also "insert" estrogen, the female hormone which is responsible for secondary female gender characteristics (waist, high-pitched voice, small shoulders and overall a feminine appearance). By doing the HRT (hormone replacement therapy), male-to-female transgenders somehow trick their body in such a way that it will develop just like the body of a biological female, and the hormone levels will be reversed: low testosterone level & high estrogen level.
Everybody has it: gay or straight, man or woman, young or old. We all have body hair, although the ammount of body hair does vary from one person to another. There are many factors which determine one`s ammount of body hair, such as sexuality (men have more body hair than women), or the hormone level, because it is known that testosterone is the one to be held responsible for this.
However, many gay men see body hair as a sign of virility, masculinity. Most of the gay/bisexual men like their partners to be hairy and as natural as possible, because otherwise if their partner waxes or shaves his legs or arms, he`d be considered effeminate or something. Anyway, while some men consider body hair a blessing or something attractive (bears, you know), for others (such as transgenders and full-time crossdressers) this can be a real issue.
You know, some lyrics just came into my mind when I was thinking about this topic. You probably know Ladytron, the music band, and in their song called "Seventeen" they have a couple of lyrics which I consider to be really true (and appliable to the real life): "They only want you when you`re 17/ When you`re 21, you`re no fun". Isn`t that so... ?
First of all, for those of you who don`t know what the term "Twink" means, I shall put it in a nutshell: "twink" is a lgbt slang which reffers to very young gay boys, usually around the age of 18-20. However, this term is very used among the LGBT community, so if you`re new it`s impossible not to hear it like every single day.
Why is everybody so mad after twinks? I mean, most of the gay men out there want twinks for sexual purposes only, very few of them would like to start a relationship with a twink because they see twinks as immature and childish. Well, yeah, that`s normal, how do you expect them to be since they`re 18 or so?
When talking about the worldwide economy and the controversial same sex marriages, there must be mentioned two major effects that these two have: first of all, the legalization of gay marriages can have as a following a significant economical boost in those particular states/countries where gay marriages are officially recognized, due to the taxes that the couples have to pay, etc.
Second of all, in the same time the very unstable worldwide economical situation is seen as an obstacle not only by heterosexual couples, but especially by gay/lesbian couples who want to get married or purchase a real estate who confront with this, besides the fact that they also deal with the obstacles imposed by society.
However, one thing`s for sure: the recession is affecting all of us, whether we are talking about gay/lesbian/bisexual couples who want to purchase a real estate or the heterosexual couples who want to get married.
Now, this is a bit off- topic because it is not especially for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgenders like you`re used to with the other articles , it`s for everybody who did something crazy and wild for their BF/GF, and I consider this subject to be one of the most interesting. I`ve heard lots of stories from both gay people and heterosexuals who did some crazy stuff for their lovers, to impress them, to as for forgiveness or to simply spice things up a bit.
However, I`d be deligted to hear some others, because I strongly believe that when you truly love somebody, you`re able to do things you wouldn`t ever imagine doing, and that`s just great! Trust me, when you`re in love, the human imagination and creativity has no boundaries! Nothing can stop you, and you feel like you can find your inspiration in basically everything.
